It’s a Thanksgiving Miracle

I’m actually down a little on the scale. I’m surprised because of my behavior at night.

Desmond is up with me in the wee hours. Still feverish, but sounds slightly better. I don’t know if Derek should take him to the basketball game. I know they were looking forward to it.

Does anyone remember Metroid? It’s an old Nintendo game, a classic, now. I still have nightmares of it. Is that strange?

I haven’t been wearing my mouth guard at bedtime, and I must still be biting my tongue in my sleep, because it really hurts.

I had another nightmare that I was a kid again, fighting with my father.

My father and I have been close since I was 12, after my mother had her first breakdown in my lifetime. Before that, we argued a lot. I back talked often. Constant power struggles.

For the last few years, I’ve had rather frequent nightmares of fighting with him. I don’t know why. As I say, we don’t fight anymore. Anyway, I woke up Derek again with my yelling.

So I’m going to plan out my week ahead of time, including Thanksgiving dinner. That’s what I did last year, and it worked beautifully; I actually lost weight that week.

I would love it if I could lose weight over the holidays, but I think I’ll be happy just to maintain, too. Thanksgiving isn’t usually that bad for me.

The Christmas season is harder. Lots of goodies around. Fudge. Chex Mix. Muddy buddies. Fudge. Reindeer noses. Hot chocolate. Fudge. Fudge again.

I have go-to strategies, though. Store everything up high and out of sight in the cabinets. This year I can have stuff locked up. Take one bite, toss the rest.

I have four bruises on the bottom of my right shin. I have no idea what from. Maybe from flipping boxes? I bruise easily.

I love flipping boxes. I can’t believe how easy it is, and it looks wicked cool (yes, I know, my New England is showing). Except for when the boxes aren’t staying together and they all crash to the floor; that’s embarrassing. BANG! “Yesssss!” I say.

Well, I think that’s enough for one post. I’m going to go do something else for a little while, but, not to worry, I’ll be back.

Thanks for reading 😊❤️
