Since the end of the third season of the Colors Series, there have been three new projects.
Typically known for its edgy comic relief and snarky tone, the 4th season of Colors takes a deep dive into seriousness when the planet is destroyed by a laser beam! Total annihilation: the mother of all grave plot points.
“I was inspired by BFDI [Battle For Dream Island],” says Colors co-founder and co-creator Desmond Taylor. “How about we destroy the planet?”
Looking for topics to boost the seriousness of the series, the creator explains, the planet gets demolished by a laser beam.
They had finished remastering the entire first season and started the second season of the TV Colors Series, and didn’t really know what to do with it. Then, one day it hit them: follow BFDI’s lead.

“Aislyn [Colors co-creator] has helped very much with the first 9 episodes of the fourth season. It would be too much to ask her for ideas for a whole series that’s been planned out already with content quite heavy for a third grader.”
Desmond genially refers to Aislyn as “the funny bone” of the Colors Series.
“Yeah, that’s good,” says Aislyn. “I like it. It makes sense. If I’m the funny bone, Desmond must be the spinal cord. He explains all the stuff.”
When asked which character she identifies with the most, she says, “The one I play, 818. All the hosts that have numbers in them.” Her most recent work involves editing, providing feedback, and helping with continuity and plot holes.
Desmond’s favorite thing about the Colors Series so far?
“I know I say it sucks a lot, but the first season is my favorite. Season 1 is where the whole thing started. It was the time we worked on it together and fighting about what would happen in the plot was minimal. Plus, it was just really funny. I was just 10, a low-key comedian.
Future plans aim toward three more episodes of TV Colors 2, showing that destroying the planet was not a good idea.
“Total planetary eradication was a BIG plot twist, but the thought process behind this isn’t going to be permanent. [The character] Redrange is very powerful—he poofed in 8 new planets.”
One thing is for certain: the wit and wisdom behind the machine that is Team Taylor are sure, as always, to have us on the edge of our seats, as the wild antics of the beloved (and not-so-beloved) characters in the Colors Series continue.
