Truth is Not Kind, and You Said Neither am I

—Toad the Wet Sprocket

I know I said I wasn’t going to quote song lyrics anymore, but I absolutely had to in this case.

I dreamt of middle school last night. We were getting our schedules for the new year. I was nervous about who would be in my classes, and if Mike Mahoney would pick on me again this year.

Mike Mahoney and Matt LeBlanc (no, not the one from the show Friends; the one I grew up with), when they got together, could be really mean.

Matt LeBlanc by himself, on the other hand, at the end of 8th grade sitting behind me in social studies class, well…let’s just say he was a lot nicer. A lot. Nicer. *Cough* Anyway…

Interestingly, he became a middle school teacher somewhere in New Hampshire. Upon learning that, I wondered if he’d ever had a reclusive little redhead in any of his classes and remembered Lee-hickey Donaher. That was me, by the way.

Don’t ask.
