They had me working in Department 80 (giftware, glassware, kitchen, etc.) first thing, but I had to switch to a different department (Department 60: domestics) when that merchandise was ready to be pushed to the sales floor. So I only got about half of an 80 cart done.
They have me do it this way often, because 60 takes priority for some reason (maybe because it’s generally bigger and bulkier items? I don’t know.) so you’d think I’d be used to it by now, but no, I’m not. I don’t like it. I don’t say anything, but it bugs me.
When I start something, I want to finish it. I don’t like leaving things unresolved. I frequently have nightmares where I’m back in school and have to accept an Incomplete for the semester.
The more significant the thing is, the worse it nags at me. Until it’s done.
Worst of all is when it’s something I really want to do, as opposed to something I just have to do. Then not accomplishing it becomes almost unbearable.
To further convolute the situation, I’ve been pulled away from the sales floor to run the register for hours on end. Now I’ve got two unfinished projects on the floor, neither of which I will probably get to complete.
Think I’m an A-type personality, much? Nah, there’s some B in me, too, but I’m definitely not feeling it right now.
I just don’t like loose ends. They make me antsy.
